Luxury Travel

Premium hotels, first class flights and award travel – fair and critical assessments of high-end travel.

Luxury travel means different things to different people. For some it is the historic grand hotel with two centuries of guest registers; for others, a remote private island, a First Class cabin over the Pacific, or a restaurant tasting menu that requires months of advance planning.

Price is not a reliable quality indicator in this segment. A room at a thousand euros per night can underdeliver compared to a boutique hotel at half the rate – depending on what the traveller actually values. Award travel and loyalty programmes shift the calculation further.
